Damsel
Fly & Frog Boxwood
#292 Damsel Fly, Frog and Water Nesuke, 1996
A damsel fly rests on a reed above quiet, reflective water and is unaware
of the frog floating nearby. The chatoyance of this piece of boxwood
suggests a glimmer of light reflected from the surface of the water.
This netsuke is in a private collection and was presented in a 1997 exhibit at the
Bowers Museum, Santa Ana, California: Miniature Sculpture from Japan and Beyond.
It is also included on the CD: "Contemporary Netsuke, Miniature Sculpture
From Japan and Beyond".
Dimensions:
1.75 x 2 x 1 inches
4.4 x 5.0 x 2.6 cm
