The extraodinary piece of Philippine Ebony is both black and brown, with a stunning chatoyant ripple in the grain. I could only see gently rippling water when I contemplated what to do with the wood.

The intent for this installation piece is to be a lily pond with floating lily pads that may be moved about and to be a forever changing scene, as lily pads might drift from moment to moment on a real pond's surface.
