Night Stalker, 2003
Boxwood
Eye inlay: Black Plexiglas
In the dark of night the hunter stalks its prey, waiting for the
slightest movement
from the moth. The boxwood branch this was carved from had many
knots in it,
and rather than scrap much of the wood, I used the knots as the
basis for branches.
The raised texture of the frog’s skin is a Japanese
netsuke texturing technique called “ukibori”.
